Description
Strabane, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland
An overview of the stunning historic town of Strabane. Like most towns across Ireland a river runs straight through it, dividing it right down its middle. Just look how important the ‘Mourne’ & her bridges are to Strabane as a town. Years ago, everyone was reliant on rivers for cargo barges & linen mills to generate trade, fishing for food & most importantly the actual river water for people to bathe & drink etc.
This river is the very reason this town & hundreds more alike across our island have thrived & grown so large that most have now become cities! Nowadays we may walk dogs & jog along our local riverbanks, yet never think on the importance they once served our community.
On a final thought “We really need to keep local waters free from plastic, rubbish & chemicals etc”. It’s the least we can do in return for their natural beauty & riverbank wildlife survival……
