These magnificent cliffs are among the highest sea cliffs in Europe. The Slieve League Cliffs are 2000ft high & reach almost three times higher than the more famous “Cliffs of Moher”
Remarkably there are remains of an early Christian monastic site on the sides of these cliffs, with a chapel and beehive huts. There are also ancient stone remains that suggest that the mountain was a site of pilgrimage before the arrival of Christianity!
I really wanted to capture a different angle of these cliffs than the standard postcard photos that are captured here by every other visitor. To achieve this I traveled to the opposite end of the cliffs, a few miles away from the bustling tourist trap. Then waited an hour or so until this very vibrant sunset started reflecting off the surrounding clouds & cliff face, then flew out over the sea to fit the entire Slieve League ridge into this one photo
