Description
Achill Island, County Mayo, Ireland
This beach really needs no introduction as it’s one of the most iconic beaches in Ireland. On arrival the entire Achill Island was blanketed in a thick low lying cloud inversion. I initially presumed there would be no photos captured that day, although I was still pleased to have reached Keem Bay, if I could now only find it first ?
Standing on this viewpoint I could see absolutely nothing but clouds, no beach or hills, only fast rolling clouds! Then suddenly to my surprise I could see a large hole slowly appearing! Knowing there was hope yet! I ran to my car to grab my camera. On return, the clouds had rolled up the hillsides, momentarily exposing the beach & road long enough for me to capture this photo.
Within a minute the thick clouds rolled back down the hills smothering the beach once again, but thankfully I got my postcard scene of Keem Bay. It really was an Irish hidden gem amongst the clouds that day ?
