I often capture scenes of this historic castle, but recently it’s become my goal to find some lesser seen angles. This can be quite challenging after years of photographing it from the traditional views. Next to Mullaghmore Head lays this stunning beach ‘Trawalua Strand’ which yields commanding views over Classiebawn Castle in the distance! What I enjoy most is that this location shows the lesser seen rear of the castle & orchards, rather than the often-seen front view with Benbulben mountain in the distance.
If you travel the length & breadth of Ireland, you will find no other castle or building that rivals the almost fairy-tale scene of ‘Classiebawn Castle’ in Sligo. The initial architects & builders sure nailed the perfect spot to build a stunning castle that would mesmerise onlookers for centuries afterwards….
