Description
Mulroy Bay, Downings, County Donegal, Ireland
Today I’m proud to show you a photo in which I have been seeking for a long time now. I always wanted to capture the sun setting just over Muckish Mountain. A few evenings ago, from Fanad peninsula I finally captured the sun kissing the peak of Muckish whilst gazing across Island Roy on Mulroy Bay, Rosapenna dunes and in the far distance Sheephaven Bay.
With my tripod & camera composed and ready half an hour before sunset, I was eagerly hoping that the then high sun would set down on the peak of Muckish as I had planned with my apps. Not only did the alignment set exactly but the sun also reflected perfectly off the bays surface, now showing two suns in my scene. A fishing trawler boat then sailed by at the exact time of capture, alongside these sheep running downhill into the light! I couldn’t have asked for anything more “Donegal” If I had tried
Also, if you look closely at the grass in this field you may see thousands of thin spider webs knitted from blade to blade. These small baby spider webs actually helped to reflect and shimmer this beautiful amber light straight towards my camera. One of those perfect moments where everything went to plan and more….
