Description
Falcarragh, County Donegal, Ireland
Ballyness Bay is an area of outstanding natural beauty created by many rivers leading to our Atlantic ocean. This estuary holds some of the strongest turquoise waters & sandy beaches found throughout Ireland. Its waters are as clear as glass due to the purity of the fresh water rivers that run through this bay. So pure that I was able to stand on an old wooden jetty & gaze straight through the surface to still see the sea bed in at least 30ft depth of water!
Whilst standing here trying to capture the suns last rays, I heard splashes from below the jetty? Suddenly 2 extremely curious sea-lions emerged mere feet from where I was standing! They circled around me then just floated idle with their heads bobbing up & down on the current for the remainder of my stay. They created another lasting memory that will stay with me always ?
To the right of this photo is Magheroarty Beach & sand dunes. In the distant horizon can be seen Errigal Mountain on the left, Dooish Mountain in the centre & Tievealehid Mountain on the right. As you can see from my photo this landscape speaks for itself with its sheer number of sandy beaches, mountains & islands all along this north Donegal shore. I love this coast so dearly ?
