Description
Downings or Downies, County Donegal, Ireland
Downings is a quaint seaside village on the Rosguill Peninsula located on the north coast of Donegal. Surrounded on its three sides by the waters of the Atlantic Ocean such as Sheephaven Bay, Tra Na Rossan & Mulroy Bay. This makes Downings feels more like an actual island (in which it once was) rather that a peninsula
Tra Beg Beach (as seen in the centre) is the main beach of Downing’s however there are many more scattered around this coastline such as the adjoining Rosapenna Beach. All these white sandy beaches make this area a top tourism spot of Donegal
This image overlooks Sheephaven Bay and in the distant left you can see Muckish Mountain, Ards Forest & Marble Hill Beach. In the distant right you can see the Horn Head cliffs of Dunfanaghy. I could spend ages writing all the other beautiful surrounding locations, however if possible this area is best visited to be fully appreciated. Words and photographs alone can’t command the admiration it truly deserves
