Description
Murder Hole Beach, Rosguill Peninsula, Downings, County Donegal, Ireland
This small circular rainbow or ‘Halo’ is an optical phenomenon known as a ‘Glory’. Identical to a Brocken Spectre (minus a human silhouette in centre), Glories are caused by sunlight interacting off tiny water droplets in mist or clouds which reflect the colours of a rainbow. Rare solar glory rainbows can be observed around mountains or hillsides.
Most people across our globe have a misconception that Ireland is beautiful simply for its “40 shades of green” but in fact Ireland has so much more than green colours. We have versatile landscapes ranging from vast pastures, lakes, forests, mountains and sandy beaches like this surrounded in lush green prairies that could only be matched by those found along the tropics. We have it all right here
