Description
Mulroy Bay, Downings, County Donegal, Ireland
Proudly joining both Fanad & Rosguill peninsulas together is the impressive Harry Blaney Bridge. Prior to the construction of this bridge a ferry sailed between these two peninsulas for almost 200 years. Then in the 1965 the ferry permanently stopped its service
Ever since people looking to travel across the mere 340 meters of water between each peninsula were forced to drive all the way around the coast road which took over an hour each way! Finally, there was glorious news for everyone on both peninsulas as in 2009 the Harry Blaney Bridge was opened
Thankfully folk can now drive across the Mulroy Bay divide in less than one minute and save themselves 59 minutes of unnecessary driving
