Description
Magheroarty, County Donegal, Ireland
There’s not much more I can tell you about Magheroarty Beach that this photo doesn’t already clearly show! Easily one of Donegal’s most pristine sandy beaches that seems to go on as far as the eye can see. Magheroarty strand has so many small coves & hidden areas. For a beach so large it’s surprisingly very private for anyone visiting even on a busy summer’s day.
Not many beaches in Ireland have 2 sandy shores facing east & west. Magheroarty is placed perfectly, so that on the left is the Atlantic Ocean & on the right is Ballyness Bay. Ballyness is an area of outstanding natural beauty created by many rivers leading out to sea. This estuary holds some of the strongest turquoise waters & sandy beaches found throughout Ireland. It’s waters are as clear as glass due to the purity of the fresh water rivers which run through this bay daily.
On this beach you could relax & watch the sun rise over Ballyness Bay. Then enjoy the rest of the day wherever you wish, then in the late evening you could sit & watch the sun set in the west over our Atlantic Ocean. What I wouldn’t give to be there again right now….
