Description
Cranagh, Glenelly Valley, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland
This stunning ruin was once the local Church Rectory & is locally known as “The Manse” It is resting deep in the “Glenelly Valley” right in the heart of the Sperrin Mountains,
It was once the glebe house for Church of Ireland in the parish of Badoney ( Badoney). That region covered Gortin and Plumbridge. Some older locals how there were approx 70 carts of turf lined up on the lane to the roadside. This was poor people paying their annual ‘dues’ to the church for the use of land in the parish’s ownership. A magnificent dwelling, in stark contrast to the other much more humble homes in the parish, or indeed the region.
