Description
Lis na gra Woods near Muff village, County Donegal, Ireland
I was delighted & honoured to have been so lucky to have actually captured an image of a “Red Squirrel” as they are so extremely rare in my homeland
I really like this particular capture due to the fast shutter speed freezing the rain drops as you can see on this image, it doesn’t spoil this little fellas dinner though 🙂
In Ireland & throughout the UK numbers of Red Squirrels have decreased drastically in recent years. This decline is associated with the introduction by humans of the eastern grey squirrel (Sciurus carolinensis) from North America. In addition, habitat loss is a factor. Due to this, without conservation the species could disappear from these shores within a generation.
