Description
Ardeelan Lower, Rossnowlagh, County Donegal, Ireland
There aren’t many coastal resorts around Ireland where you can enjoy a sunny day at the beach swimming with family & friends, then if desired leisurely stroll into a place of faith to say a few prayers or maybe to reflect and be thankful on what you have in life. Maybe view some stunning statues, gardens, multiple churches of faith and say hello to passing Brother Monks. Rossnowlagh is indeed one of these amazing places where this unusual combination of both leisure and faith is possible.
On the side of the road can be seen this little red & green coloured picturesque church, which on passing always reminds me of a scene straight from ‘little house on the prairie’. Yes, your eyes aren’t deceiving you! as this church is indeed constructed from wooden frames and painted tin sheets. Rossnowlagh Presbyterian Church was built 110 years ago and still stands today against the elements
Close by on the right you can see the stunning Rossnowlagh Franciscan Friary Monastery opened in 1952 complete with its Church, museum, gardens and holy wells. This combination of historic buildings located on one of Donegal’s most stunning beaches makes Rossnowlagh highly respected and loved by the many who visit this area each year
