Description
Donemana, Strabane, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland
This historic mill complex consists of a corn, flax & sawmill all on one site. Nestled in an ancient woodland valley of Oak, Birch & Ash trees. These mills are driven by two large wooden water wheels, which draw water from the passing River Dennett.
In centre can be seen the traditional miller’s cottage with whitewashed walls & red door. This complex dates back to the 1700’s & there were possibly older mills on this site prior. Silverbrook Mill is unique, as it’s the only site with these three mill types all on one complex that we know of in Ireland.
Silverbrook’s a tranquil place to stroll & unwind. The silence here is merely broken by the gentle sound of river water & songs of woodland creatures. The entire ground is carpeted yellow dandelion wildflowers amongst the lushest green grass meadow imaginable. Locations such as these were certainly the inspiration for many fairy tales we have heard as children
