Overlooking Inishsirrer Island, Gweedore, County Donegal, Ireland
Today was my 3rd “Storm Chase” day of 2020! I knew Ciara was approaching like an angry lady ? So I geared up & hit the coast of Gweedore. I’ve had a vision in my mind for a few years of a massive storm beating off ‘Inishsirrer Island’. Today was my chance to capture it?
To cut the story short…. I was blown & healed around once again like a rag doll! Covered in sheep’s dung up to the ankles & soaked to the skin! But I managed to hike & capture this one scene of ‘Inishsirrer Island’ from over 3 miles away so please excuse the overall quality. Im now a content but extremely wrecked man ? Well worth it as I loved every second of “Storm Chase Ciara” ?
‘Inishsirrer’ is now a deserted island just under a mile off the north coast of Donegal along the Wild Atlantic Way. This small settlement of ‘Inishsirrer’ was once a thriving fishing community. Today this little island is sadly uninhabited. All that remains is this little ‘Ghost Town’ with its abandoned cottages, shops, dry stone walls & small harbour all echoing it’s once bustling past….
