Last night the moon rose at 100% totality, this bright August full moon is known as the ‘Sturgeon Supermoon’. August’s full Moon is traditionally called the Sturgeon Moon because the giant sturgeon fish of the Great Lakes in America were most readily caught during this part of summer by tribes centuries ago. It is also the last Supermoon of 2022.
I captured this photo from ‘Wolf Hill’ overlooking Belfast City centre around 9.35 last night. You can see this Supermoon rising over the stunning Belfast City Hall below in the centre of this photo.
