Ballymagorry, Strabane, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland
There are particular smells of nature that are unforgettable in my mind. These smells always remind me of growing up around the countryside. Each time I smell them it rejuvenates my mind momentarily, not sure if you can relate or if this makes sense to you? It’s hard to explain but I’ll give it a whirl sure….
Summer’s mowed lawns, Autumn’s cold morning dew, Winter’s smell of turf fires burning. However my all-time favourite has to be the smell of fresh dug soil during the start of Spring, especially if it has just been ploughed into furrows after a really warm day. Just like this field in my photo, which I stood in & captured yesterday evening.
I prefer these smells over any fancy expensive high street scents any day. If I could buy aftershave in these available smells I would! Can you imagine someone asking me “What’s that distinct aftershave smell your wearing?” my answer being ‘Freshly Dug Earth’ by ‘Wray Fragrance’s’ ? Ok maybe I should just stick to photography & give up on my Perfume making vision for the meantime ??
