Description
The Roguey, Tullan Strand, Bundoran, County Donegal, Ireland
This amazing natural rock bridge formation can be found on the Roguey cliff walk and overlooks the tranquil Tullan Strand in the background. The Fairy Bridges are actually natural blow holes caused by the stormy waves of the Atlantic Ocean crashing into the cliff face over millennia, eroding straight through the rock and leaving only the roof in the shape of a bridge. It’s basically a sea cave with its roof slowly disappearing over time.
Whilst capturing this photograph on an extremely stormy day, a rainbow suddenly appeared over the sand dunes of Tullan Beach. This added even more charm to this amazing Fairy Bridge…. I stare and can just imagine our fairies and other Irish mythical folklore creatures crossing over it in song & dance
