Description
Koram Hill, Legfordrum, Strabane, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland
Captured only a few hours ago this morning, this is the first snowfall of 2024 to land on my homeland. I grabbed my gear and hit the high ground of the Sperrin Hills for this wintery photo
If you follow my photography, then this little cottage may be no stranger to you. It is located only a few miles away and I consider it my “go to spot” as it’s simply one of the most stunning little traditional cottages I know off. When I first started capturing this homestead around 12 years ago there was a full roof and even some plaster/whitewash remained on the walls. All seemed in decent condition however, every time I returned to capture it, there seemed to be another sheet of rusted tin missing from the roof. You can now sadly see that the entire roof has half collapsed inside
Even in an abandoned state this little cottage still holds its charm, although without maintenance there is a certain pivot point where time eventually takes its toll and slowly topples all in its path into ruin. I believe anything historical should be preserved regardless of who owns it or its value. There is beauty in natures decay although there is always point when some caring intervention is required.…..
