Description
A family Herd of ‘Sika Deer’ enjoying this years first snowfall in the stunning ‘Gortin Glen Forest Park’. This park has vast acres of natural Irish woodland. It grants visitors a glimpse into what our country would have looked like millennia ago when early settlers hunted & gathered across our island. Infact deer alongside bears etc would likely have been hunted in order for tribes to survive the cold & hunger of winter.
It was surreal to just stand there during snowfall, in a natural woodland & watch this family of deer forage through the soft fresh snow. The mother doe deer to the rear, the stag father standing proud showing off his magnificent antlers in full display & at the very front is the young teen buck with 2 little sprouting horns on is head ? I’m amazed on how similar he actually looks to his mother & father when all seen standing next to each other for their family portrait
