Description
Last night the moon rose at 100% totality, this bright August full moon is known as the “Blue Moon” even though it has nothing to do with its colour . I captured a full moon rise over this same river 6 years ago, although the moon was arched too high in the sky to fit into my photo at the time, so I only managed to capture its reflection on the river below. Ever since I was aiming to some night recapture the scene at the exact time of year when the full moon was low enough in the sky, aligned exactly over the river & it’s historic bridge.
Through some early planning & research using my geeky astro apps I worked out that the fresh rising moon would pass overhead at a very low altitude of 6 degrees last night at 10.24pm which was perfect! The weather also “played ball” & clouds stayed clear for those few minutes I needed, so I finally managed to get my photo with the moon & reflection in one frame…… sure it only took me 6 years!
