Description
Tra Na Rossan, Rosguill Peninsula, Downings, County Donegal, Ireland
Familiar faces to the Rosguill area will instantly recognise this stunning little school house. On route to this old school there are many bushes and large trees, however as soon as you reach this spot all the surrounding landscape turns sandier with very few trees afterwards.
To me this old school seems to act like a greeting marker for the many sandy beaches in which this peninsula is famous for. As soon as folk reach this schoolhouse their excitement builds as they know they are within meters to their beloved holiday homes where they can swim turquoise tainted waters and stroll many white sandy shores.
I just can’t imagine any of the children who attended this little school ever complaining, especially about the view anyway I would have given anything just to have had the privilege to attend somewhere so traditionally Irish and beautiful. I’m sure there are many wholesome stories to be told from this little schoolhouse and other similar Irish schools from many years ago….
