Description
Ballyness Bay, Falcarragh, County Donegal, Ireland
Ballyness is an area of outstanding natural beauty created by several rivers leading out to sea. This estuary holds some of the strongest turquoise coloured waters found throughout Ireland. Water as clear as glass due to the purity of cool freshwater rivers which filter down through mountains into this bay daily. All protected by these magnificent sand dunes which run the entire length of the shoreline.
Ballyness Bay overlooks many islands, beaches and mountains along Donegal’s north-western shore such as Magheroarty, Inishboffin, Inishdooey and Tory. In the distant horizon can be seen Aghla Beg & Crocknalaragagh Mountain on the left, Errigal Mountain in the centre and Ardsmore Mountain on the right.
As you can see from my photo this landscape speaks for itself with its sheer number of sandy beaches, mountains & islands all along this northern Donegal shore. There’s something very special about Ballyness Bay that strikes sheer excitement in me during every visit
