Description
This vibrant sunset burst was captured from Koram Hill overlooking the town of Strabane, County Tyrone & neighbouring town lands of Lifford/Raphoe, County Donegal, Ireland
Today I have a little perception trick shot for you to ponder over I captured this scene using my large 600mm Telephoto (zoom) lens. By zooming it in further it actually draws distant background closer, giving you the viewer the changed perception that distant objects are larger than they actually are. This method is called ‘Lens Compression’. It allows me to compress a lot more interesting details into one photo for you. This is the reason why the sun in this photo looks so large in comparison to the mountains & foreground buildings etc.
For example, from the very spot I captured this photo, I am 3 miles away from Strabane & Lifford towns, 10 miles away from Raphoe town (you may need to zoom in to see) & In the distance you can see ‘Errigal Mountain’ which is 40 miles away from where I captured this photo! I hope you all enjoyed my little ‘geeky’ technical lesson for today folks
