Mullaghmore, County Sligo, Ireland
On a recent trip to the stunning Mullaghmore peninsula, I had my camera/tripod all set up aimed at a great composition & was awaiting a colourful sunset over Classiebawn Castle. However from the ground no colours seemed to be appearing my camera screen? Out of curiosity & desire not to return home empty handed! I took the gamble to cancel my opportunity on the ground with my Nikon camera setup & instead sent my drone up to hopefully get a usable photo.
I flew all around this castle & peninsula capturing several different angles, but this is the one that stood out most to me. I don’t recall ever personally seeing Classiebawn captured from this side before & up until now never actually knew what the front of this castle looked like. It’s great to see a fresh angle of somewhere that’s been photographed so many times by photographers from all over the world & myself also. Irish scenery just keeps on giving ?
If you travel the length & breadth of Ireland, you will find no other castle or building that rivals the almost fairy-tale scene of ‘Classiebawn Castle’ in Sligo, Ireland. Seated perfectly on a hilltop on the edge of Sligo’s Wild Atlantic Way overlooking the ocean, whilst nestled in the shadow of Ireland’s most iconic table top mountain Benbulbin. The initial architects & builders sure nailed the perfect spot to build a stunning castle that would mesmerise onlookers for centuries afterwards.
