Description
Offshore Gweedore, County Donegal, Ireland
Inishsirrer is a deserted island half a mile offshore north Donegal along the Wild Atlantic Way. This small settlement of Innishirrer was once a thriving fishing community. Sadly now the island is completely uninhabited and all that remains are these abandoned cottages, shops and a small harbour all echoing its bustling past
When I stare over to this small island that is nowadays sadly left to the elements, I try to imagine how life may have been here back in the day. One can’t help but feel a strong sense of admiration towards its once hard working community during the good times that have now sadly long passed… May God rest their souls
I’m sure those memories & tales will never be forgotten and hopefully will be passed down forever throughout future generations via stories, paintings & photographs
