Description
Dunree Head, Inishowen Peninsula, Buncrana, County Donegal, Ireland
After almost 80 years of erosion & on this harsh coastline, this is what remains of old Fort Dunree. Once a prime fortification camp, with large canons guarding over Lough Swilly leading to the River Foyle. Fort Dunree is now an outdoor museum & all these old buildings etc remain exactly as they were left many moons ago.
I love the way it just stands here frozen in time, reminding us on all the brave soldiers who played a courageous part during those worrying times. In this backdrop you can see ‘Dunree Bay’ a stunning horseshoe beach, with the majestic Hills of Urris shadowing over it.
