Description
Dunlewey, County Donegal, Ireland
If you look at the mountains in the background you can see “The Fallen Giant’s Head” Ancient legends say that the the king of Tory Island “Balor” once had a very beautiful daughter who he kept closed away in a Tower out of men’s view. However word of her beauty spread and she was kidnapped by another evil giant.
King Balor tracked them to Dunlewey and killed her evil kidnapper by striking the evil giant with with a massive stone between the eyes. He fell to the ground, suddenly turning to rock.
His blood poured out, poisoning the glen to this day.
His rock frozen body has since been laying here on his back facing upwards as a warning to all men trying to take King Balor’s beautiful daughter away from him
