Description
Maghera, Ardara, County Donegal, Ireland
This stunning valley was created by glaciers during the ice age around 12,000 years ago. Glaciers carved their way straight through the Donegal landscape out to ‘Maghera Beach’ on the shore of ‘Loughross Beg Bay’ Granny Pass is not far from its sister valley ‘Glengesh pass’ which is equally as stunning. However I had never visited ‘Granny Pass’ before so I set out to finally find it.
After a few wrong turns & pot holes you could swim in ? I finally approached ‘Granny Pass’ from this upper angle looking straight out to sea. It honestly took my breath away with its sheer natural untouched beauty. Not even as much as one power-line pole or building was in sight anywhere as far as the eye could see. Like many areas on this coast there wasn’t a single soul around for miles. I was here for over an hour & not even one car passed through this valley.
