Description
Mamore Gap, Inishowen, County Donegal, Ireland
Last night there was word that the Aurora (Northern Lights) may be visible across the north coast of Ireland. Restless & full of excitement I decided to gear up & set off north bound along Donegal’s Wild Atlantic Way in hope. I arrived at “Mamore Gap” around 11.30pm. It was pitch black & other that this cloud bank to the right, the skies were perfectly clear!
I managed to capture a hint of the green Aurora on the distant horizon. Not the greatest aurora display ever but then I suppose “half a loaf is better than no bread” 🙂 Instead I decided to focus my efforts on capturing the Milky Way in this image. High winds in zero degrees temperatures & total darkness on top of a mountain until 2.30am may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I prefer it anytime over going to bed early lol
