Mulroy Bay, Downings, Rosguill, County Donegal, Ireland
Hidden away between the villages of Carrigart and Downings can be found Island Roy. A small historic island of lush grazing farmland with an estimated population of 26 residents who mainly farm and maintain its land. Their forefathers once worked & fertilised its salty soil into these lush green fields we see today. It’s wonderful to see it still be maintained in the same manner almost a thousand years later.
On the right can be seen the popular seaside village of Downings and in the distance can be seen Ards Peninsula on the neighbouring Sheephaven Bay.
With the sun setting near the summit of Muckish mountain, our earth’s rotation seemed to make it slowly roll down the right slope of Muckish, before softly melting away into the horizon…. With moments like these to be witnessed, there’s nowhere else i’d rather be
