Description
Achill Island, County Mayo, Ireland
This beach really needs no introduction, as it is one of the most photographed beaches in Ireland. Over my years in photography ‘Keem Bay’ has always been on my target list, although until only last week Id never managed to reach it.
On my arrival the entire ‘Achill Island‘ was blanketed in thick very low clouds ? so I instinctively presumed I wouldn’t get any photos that day, yet I was still pleased to have reached ‘Keem Bay’. It would serve as a scouting trip at least for a future visit during better skies. Well to my sudden surprise I could see a large hole in the fast-approaching distant clouds & knew there may be some hope yet! I sprinted to my car, grabbed my Nikon camera then hopped about like a “March Hare” composing & capturing a few angles in hope of getting one usable photo to share with you all.
Within 2 minutes the thick clouds rolled back down the hills smothering the beach again but thankfully I got this popular postcard angled shot of ‘Keem Bay’ with the little house that I’ve always been seeking.
