Description
Classiebawn Castle, Mullaghmore, County Sligo, Ireland
Standing alone on the stunning Mullaghmore coast, I set up my camera/tripod & aimed it at the famous ‘Classie Bawn Castle’ hoping for a great sunset to colour the sky. However, no colours seemed to be appearing on my cameras screen??? ? Out of curiosity & sheer desire not to return home empty handed! I took the gamble to cancel my opportunity on the ground with my Nikon camera setup & instead sent my drone up to hopefully get a usable photo ?
As soon as I flew to a particular height the sun suddenly radiated & cast the most stunning soft golden light across this grassy peninsula! Yet the strange thing was that from the ground I still couldn’t see much of these tones. It only lasted mere minutes but what a glorious 2 minutes it was looking down over it all from this perspective ?
If you travel the length & breadth of Ireland, you will find no other castle or building that rivals the almost fairy-tale scene of ‘Classiebawn Castle’ in Sligo, Ireland. Seated perfectly on a hilltop overlooking the Atlantic ocean, whilst nestled in the shadow of Ireland’s most iconic mountain Benbulbin. The initial architects & builders sure nailed the perfect spot to build a stunning castle that would mesmerise onlookers for centuries afterwards.
