Malin Head, Inishowen, County Donegal, Ireland
I’m afraid I don’t know much about this little traditional thatched cottage other than it is one of the furthest buildings north in all Ireland. This is due to its placement on ‘Malin Head‘ which is Ireland’s most northerly point. I’m not even sure if anyone lives here anymore but it does look very well maintained so it’s a credit to it’s current owner.
This little cottage is placed very close to the shore & on stormy days the waves rise from behind much higher than the actual house! Just imagine what it must sound like from inside this cottage during a hurricane! Sitting by a crackling turf fireside listening to the sounds of waves crashing off the nearby coastal rocks & the rain belting off the thatch roof & window panes ? I don’t know about you? but I would give any amount of money just to experience a night like that…
