As you are aware, I spend a lot of my time & money travelling across Ireland in search of stunning landscapes to photograph & share with you all. Sometimes I travel so far it requires an overnight stay. Yet would you believe that this stunning location is a mere 5 miles from my front door! Sometimes these gems are right under our noses when we usually believe that “far away fields are greener” ?
This small Castle & beautiful lake is set in an eighteenth-century Georgian Deanery which is privately owned but also open to the public. Maintained to perfection this 100 acres of parkland, woodland & gardens can be found on the outskirt of the historic town (ancient city) of Raphoe. Oakfield Park even has its own operating railway train to take you around this magnificent lake & its expansive gardens. ?
