Just look how important the River Mourne & her bridge is to Strabane. They are the very reasons the town is here today. I’ve crossed this old stone arched bridge more times than I can remember. It continues to be a landmark symbol for the town of Strabane & certainly a proud testament of time to its builders centuries ago. Ok I understand that most stone bridges across the world have the same impressive lastability traits & not solely this one, regardless I still find it fascinating non the less 
How something constructed totally by hand, with dry stone & very little cement, was built hundreds of years prior right in the middle of a fast-flowing river! How this bridge can last for centuries with minimal maintenance is a true credit. Especially considering that only a few miles up this river a modern steel cable bridge was totally swept away in a flash flood 30 years ago! Why when something works do people change it? Stone will always outlast wielded steel
