Muckross Head, Kilcar, County Donegal, Ireland
Yesterday morning I set out for my first “Storm Chase” of 2020. The powerful ‘Storm Brendan’ arrived on Ireland’s western shore, so the chase was on! Lol. I visited many locations but arrived in ‘Muchross Head’ in Kilcar during the peak of the storm so set about trying to capture a photo that shows the raw power & beauty of the storm, mixed with the strength of our wild Atlantic Ocean.
I have said many times before on “how strong the wind was” etc but trust me! It was pure crazy here during this capture with winds near 80mph! I thought against it for over an hour until at one stage it literally blew so strong that it slid me across the grass, gale stones pelted my face so hard that I was forced to honker down covering my face. That’s when I knew to give in & retreat. Well ‘Brendan’ may have finally won the battle between us yesterday…. But I gave him my best shot & got my photo to remember it by ??
It’s locations like here that give meaning to the name ‘Wild Atlantic Way’ Rightfully fitting as the waves were furious & so much sea spray was traveling through the air that it covered everything! I could even taste the fresh sea water off my tongue it was so strong. Muckross Head is another of nature’s active hotspots that shows our raw Island is very much alive ?
