Description
Tullan Strand, Bundoran, County Donegal, Ireland
This photo was captured during the peak of Storm Kathleen a few days ago. With winds over 60mph I perched with my back against a rock on top of the Roguey or Rougey cliff walk and overlooked this wonderful long strand below
Staying sheltered against the furious wind and rain, I gazed through my zoom lens at all the interesting elements a storm delivers upon its wrath. Magnificent waves travelled in several directions, changing tones from royal blue to an almost emerald green once the sun’s rays broke through the clouds and illuminated them every now and then. Winds raced across the sandy shore causing the sand to ripple across the beach surface as if mimicking the actual oceans waves. These winds finally swooped up these giant dunes carrying all the dust they gathered to their peaks causing it to fly airborne giving the illusion that smoke was rising from the tops of the dunes.
Amidst of all my curious observations I couldn’t believe my eyes as this brave person alongside their dog strolled right into my frame! Not another soul was on this beach, however this didn’t hinder the fun this little dog was having chasing bits of debris racing past and even jumping into the waves with joy!
Credit due to this person walking at an almost diagonal position for most of the time fighting the winds whilst trying to hold their hood from blowing off . Whoever it was strolling the beach during Storm Kathleen that day, like myself decided to just embrace, observe and safely enjoy the sheer power of nature’s beauty
