Description
Ballyness Bay, Falcarragh, County Donegal, Ireland
On the final stretch of road to Ballyness Bay can be found this colourful scene, overlooking the many islands and strands of Donegal’s northern shore. Ireland has many stunning roads and viewpoints, however there’s something special about the road to Ballyness Bay that always strikes excitement in me on approach.
Possibly because there’s so many details and sights which can be observed from this small area. There’s usually a gentle cool sea breeze here which carries the most memorable smell of freshly blossomed wildflowers, especially on warm summer days
What still amazes me, is the fact that Tory Island (furthest seen on horizon) is almost 10 miles away from where this photo was captured! yet along this coast it only looks a couple mile or so off. The island between to the left is Inishdooey, the sand dunes on the left are Magheroarty Strand and the dunes to the right are Drumnatinney Beach.
