Description
Vinegar Hill Loop, Craignamaddy, Glenelly, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland
As you may have guessed by the title, this is a little “oddball” anomaly which I discovered whilst scouting around the ‘Sperrins Hills’ looking for new locations. Driving across an old rural mountain path, I looked out of my window & saw this amazing ’50 pence coin’ shaped field. At first, I thought it was my imagination, so I stopped & climbed on top of my 4×4’s roof to gain a greater view & capture this photo. Not only does it look like a little emerald oasis amongst all the mountain bracken heather, but this field actually looks like it’s a hexagon shape!
My mind started dwelling into the past once again…. I wondered if the farmer who once lived in that little homestead amongst the trees visioned & fenced this field into this shape as a form of artistic expression? just like I capture photographs or a painter paints scenes which they vision? Or was it simply a fluke? Either way it certainly captured both my eye & my imagination ?
Well if this uniquely shaped field was purposely fenced into a hexagon as a form of a rural farmers artistic expression, then it has worked! Maybe it took a century to be recognised? but better late than never, as Art/Creation never grows old & last forever if preserved ☘️
