Description
Between Strabane, County Tyrone & Porthall, County Donegal, Ireland
Corkan Island is a small forgotten island on the River Foyle which divides two counties. On the left is Donegal & to the right is Tyrone. As you can clearly see, both ends of this riverbank are equally as stunning as each other
This river & the old ‘Strabane Canal’ alongside were once bustling waterways. Only 70 years ago these waters would have never ceased to ripple, by the amount of merchant barges & boats sailing both ways.
Times have certainly changed & moved forward by the modern advances in freight lorries, aeroplanes & internet deliveries. Nowadays calm mirrored reflections are a common sight on these silent riverbanks….. in my book this is wonderful as it’s how this river was for thousands of years prior & how it should now remain once again, the way nature intended.
