Ballinreavy Strand Dunes, Rossbeg, Donegal, Ireland
Miles off-road with no leading signposts, hidden along Donegal’s Wild Atlantic Way lies this stunning area on ‘Sheskinmore Bay’. I’ve travelled to many obscure & hidden locations throughout Ireland, yet this strand is one of the most pristine & untouched by far! It has sand dunes over 100ft high & crystal waters along miles of sandy shore as far as the eye can see. I stayed here for over 2 hrs yet not once did I see another soul…..
Many people throughout the world seem to have the misconception that Ireland is solely known for its beautiful “40 shades of green” but in fact Ireland has so much more! with its versatile landscapes ranging from green pastures, lakes, sandy beaches, forests, mountains & sand dunes like these that could only be matched by those found in the Sahara Desert!
What I find so fascinating about ‘Sheskinmore Bay’ is knowing that when strolling around here everything that you can see, hear, smell & feel are what our ancestors sensed here thousands of years ago. Time itself seems to have forgotten the sands on this bay as everything is exactly how it was & exactly how it should always remain… Pristine & unharmed by the destructive nature of “some” modern human beings ?
