Description
Magheragallon, Derrybeg, Gweedore, County Donegal, Ireland
Ever since I first visited this stunning townland of ‘Magheragallan’ to get the ferry to Gola Island, I’ve been planning a return to capture this particular scene. A few days ago I set out… My aim was to show both its beautiful St. Mary’s graveyard – cemetery & ‘Trá Dhearg’ beach which translates to ‘Red Beach’ in one photograph during sunset. I adore how close this cemetery is to this stunning shore. Some of my own distant relatives rest here & I’m sure they loved walking this beach & traveling on boats from this harbour to these little islands throughout their lives ?
You can see the ferry harbour next to the beach. The islands from left to right are Gola, Umfin, Inishmeane & Inishsirrer. In the distant right are townlands of Brinlack & Knockfola (Bloody Foreland). When the sky goes on fire, there’s no place more scenic than Gweedore bay of Donegal ❤️Bloody Forelands
