Description

Classiebawn Castle, Mullaghmore, County Sligo, Ireland

I captured this photo during a recent storm. Waves were rising 30ft in height around me and the roar of the sea is something that I won’t forget. Never have I heard nature’s raw power so close before. It felt like Poseidon himself was roaring out loud whilst belting these giant waves upon our shore with his Trident ???? Sheer energy!

If you travel the length & breadth of Ireland, you will find no other castle or building that rivals the almost fairy-tale like scene of Classiebawn. Classiebawn Castle is a Baronial style country house built in 1874. Nowadays its surrounding 7,000-acre estate is mainly used as grazing pastures.

Seated perfectly on a hilltop overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and nestled in the shadow Benbulben, one of Ireland’s most iconic mountains. The initial architects and builders sure nailed the perfect spot to build a stunning castle that would mesmerise onlookers for centuries afterwards ????
