Trá Na Rosann Beach, Rosguill, Downings, County Donegal, Ireland
This photo was quite the challenge for me to capture. I remember that windy dark night on Trá Na Rosann Beach, gazing up at the moon which shone momentarily through the odd gap in those fast windblown clouds. To my surprise there was a couple who had set up tent on the beaches edge. They were huddled round a glorious log campfire which illuminated the surrounding dunes & sea grass a warm amber flame colour.
These campers were totally unaware that out standing in the pitch-black sands was me with my camera gear all set up. I kept as far back as possible not to frighten or disrupt their moment under moonlight as if they had seen me, they would have sworn I was ‘Jason’ from the ‘Friday the 13th’ movies stalking their camp site! 😂 Then using a telephoto lens, I zoomed in to enlarge the moon & frame this scene better. After a little wait the moon peaked through one last time before vanishing behind a cloud bank for the rest of the night.
Afterwards I turned on my torch & casually approached them so they could clearly see me. After explaining what I was doing & giving them my details we all had a little laugh about my moon stalking on the beach in the dark of night 🌔
