Lough Salt peak overlooking Lough Greenan, County Donegal, Ireland
I recently hiked to the summit of Lough Salt Mountain seeking a hopeful sunset image. On arrival there was a clear view all around, but I could never have anticipated what was about to happen next! Within a few mere moments low rolling cloud started flowing from behind Muckish and the Derryveagh Mountains in the distance. These clouds literally flowed like river water across this vast expanse before me, carpeting the entire Sheephaven bay in an ethereal mist.
It reached Lough Greenan below and I though “it will now level out around the base of this mountain” well how wrong I was
The clouds rolled up the side of the mountain until reaching the peak and flowed off the rear like a waterfall into the sky.
The sun gently touched on the horizon and released its vibrant rays of light which reflected off the mist causing it to illuminate making it look like it was a flowing river of amber fire rolling around me
I stood there in awe on this mountain top bathed by these elements working in harmony. This was by far one of the greatest experiences of my life
