There’s not much more I can tell you about Magheroarty Beach which this photo doesn’t already showcase. Easily one of Donegal’s most pristine sandy beaches, which seems to go on as far as the eye can see. For a beach so stunning, it’s surprisingly very private for anyone visiting. Even on a busy summer’s day you may feel that you have the full beach to yourself, due to it having so many little coves & hidden areas.
Not many beaches in Ireland have 2 sandy shores facing both west & east. Magheroarty is placed perfectly, so that on the west is looking outward to the vast Atlantic Ocean & the eastern shore is overlooking Ballyness Bay. Ballyness is an area of outstanding natural beauty created by many rivers leading out to sea. This estuary holds some of the strongest turquoise waters found throughout Ireland. Its waters are as clear as glass due to the purity of the freshwater rivers that run through this bay.
On this beach you could relax & watch the sunrise over Muckish Mountain on the stunning Ballyness Bay, then in the evening you could stroll over to Magheroarty Beach & watch the sunsetting in the west, over the abyss of the Atlantic…..
