At the very end of the Gleniff Horseshoe Valley, the road leads you around a stunning amphitheatre cliff base formed during the last ice age. As you continue the road passes these cliffs of Annacoona where small mine entrances are visible high up on the face.
Up on these cliffs behind this old school house ruin you can see what according to the legend, is the cave where legendary Diarmuid and Grainne spent their night together whilst fleeing from the raged Fionn. This is actually Ireland’s highest cave!
